What John Can Learn From Me

Dear Diary,

This will be my last entry for now. I have been spending a lot of my energy on observing John and taking notes of what his behaviors could mean. Today, I will record my findings and hope that my wisdom finds its way to John. After this, I will take a short break from this side-project because I am too tired from all these writings.

John needs to learn and understand that he can depend on other people and be independent at the same time. These two traits are not mutually exclusive from each other. Well, he can take me for example. I am a dependent cat. I can go out whenever and wherever I want. I can survive outside this house and I do not need him to follow me around all the time. But, there are times when I will need John for pets and food, but mostly food. During those times, asking for John does not make me a weak or ‘needy’ cat. It makes me, still a cat. The key that John needs to know is balance. There are people on both extremes and I, as a cat, stand in the middle. Now, humans might not be able to completely be in the middle but at least understanding that being of one trait does not mean the other trait is not present, is the first step in learning how to be interdependent.

I hope, somehow, John finds this note because if he does:

  1. Hi, John! What a surprise you’re reading all this!

  2. Hope you’re learning a thing or two from me.
